The 6.5 Questions

1. How long have you been podcasting?
I did my first podcast in July of 2005, so I'm coming up on year 4 for the show. Wow, time flies.
2. How many shows have you done?
I'm in the 180 - 190 show range. I've tried to do a show a week since I started the show.
3. How has your quality/performance changed since your first show?
Like most podcasters there's a learning curve on show production, so the sound quality on my early shows is not what it is today. Along the way I've also upgraded equipment and learned how to mix my show better. I've also expanded the format of the show to include small video episodes from shows that I have been to, interviews and other fun things.
4. What podcasts do you listen to and which are your favorites?
Among a bunch of other podcasts, I really enjoy comic book podcasts and movie podcasts. Comic books podcasts are cool becuase it's ususally guys like myself talking about what comics they've read and how comics impact their life. Same goes for the movie podcasts which are mostly in the horror genre, Comic Geek Speak (www.comicgeekspeak.com) and Rue Morgue Radio (www.ruemorgueradio.com) are two of my favorites.
5. Tell us about your show and who should be listening to it?
Most People Are DJs is the proclamation that most us us really are DJs whether we're making a playlist for the iPod or spinning records at a club. It's the feeling we get when we listen to music that we discovered and want others to check out. With my show, I go further music and expand it to the latest media that I'm into, that could be a TV show, viral video, or even a book. Recent shows have included me talkiing about my love for Harper's Island, interviewing The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and playing bands like the Whip.
6. What is your background (especially if relevant to your podcast)?
In college I DJ'd at my college radio station and my degreee is in Journalism, but most of my influences for podcasting come from a 'zine I did in the 90's call O.D. or Opinion Dominated. 'Zines done in the 80's and 90's have a lot in common today's podcasts because they were DIY efforts that really showed the creator's personality and taste.
6.5 Is there anything else your listeners should know about you, your show, etc?
I'll add that even though MPAD is a music show, don't expect to hear all genres of music, I usually stick to what I like, indie music with some synths and electronic beats. I also try to add variety to what I do with every MPAD episode, so, while the music may be consistent the show is always full of surprises.
